Ten rounds, 36 players and a championship battle that went all the way to the final night
The Poker Club Winter League 2026 delivered ten weeks of competitive poker, surprise winners and an increasingly tight battle at the top of the standings before Jonah emerged as Winter League Champion with 77 points.
Running from 7 July to 8 September 2026, the league attracted 36 players, with an average field of almost 13 players per round.
By the time the final cards were dealt, just 13 points separated the top four players.
Jonah finished five points clear of Riaan, who mounted a determined late challenge and won the final round of the season. John secured third place on 68 points, while Layton completed an extremely competitive top four with 64.
One of the standout performances of the season belonged to Lynne.
Despite playing only nine of the ten rounds, Lynne accumulated an outstanding 18 knockout points — the highest total in the league.
That helped propel her to fifth overall with 58 points.
Her season ended on a high as well. Five knockout points, a River Rat bonus and third place in the final round gave her 13 points, tying Riaan and Rueben for the highest points haul of the night.
If there was an award for maximum impact in minimum appearances, Justin would have a compelling case.
Justin played just five rounds but still finished sixth overall with an extraordinary 48 points.
He finished second on 11 August before winning the 25 August round with 17 points.
Justin also recorded three Top Hands, the most of any player in the Winter League.
His average of 9.6 championship points per appearance was exceptional and leaves the obvious question of what might have happened had he contested the full ten-round season.
Perhaps the clearest indication of the competitiveness of the Winter League was the variety of players who found their way to the winner's circle.
Across the ten rounds, nine different players recorded victories:
Jonah, Raewyn, Layton, Logan, Josh, John, Justin, Erin and Riaan.
Layton was the only player to win twice.
There were also some spectacular individual performances.
Josh's victory on 4 August produced 17 points and included Quad 4s, while Justin matched the 17-point mark with his victory on 25 August.
Erin made an extraordinary one-night appearance on 1 September, recording six knockout points and taking first place for 16 points.
The final standings tell the story of a league in which consistency mattered every bit as much as individual victories.
Layton won twice. John produced a strong second half of the season. Lynne dominated the knockout statistics. Justin was devastating in limited appearances. And Riaan saved his victory for the night when the championship pressure was at its highest.
But across ten rounds, nobody accumulated points as consistently as Jonah.
From winning the opening round on 7 July to protecting his advantage through the final night on 8 September, Jonah remained the player everyone else was chasing.
Final score: Jonah 77. Riaan 72. John 68. Layton 64.
